Motor Grader Operator Training (4 Weeks)

Step into the operator’s cabin of our state-of-the-art grader and learn to sculpt Uganda’s roads with precision. Over four intensive weeks, you’ll move from basic blade controls on flat ground to finishing crown roads on uneven terrain—gaining the skills that contractors in Kampala, Mbarara and Soroti demand.

Week 1 – Foundations & Safety

You begin each morning with a full pre-start inspection, learning to check hydraulic hoses, articulation joints and blade mechanisms. Under your trainer’s watchful eye, you explore cab layout: throttle, articulation lever and blade-tilt controls. Once you’ve mastered neutral drills on level ground, you practice simple forward-and-reverse passes—laying the groundwork for smooth grading.

Week 2 – Basic Grading Techniques

With core controls under your belt, you move on to cutting and filling exercises. You’ll learn to adjust blade angle and tilt to feather out loose earth, creating flat surfaces on open fields. Drills include side-hill grading and corridor shaping, mimicking rural routes. Daily debriefs highlight efficient blade settings and fuel-saving practices.

Week 3 – Advanced Road Finishing

Now you tackle real-world challenges: crowning unpaved roads, sculpting drainage ditches and back-dragging to remove ridges. Your trainer assigns timed tasks—laying a smooth, 5-meter-wide path within set tolerances. You also drill on tight-area manoeuvres, edging the blade along curbs and embankments, just like you’ll do on the Kampala–Jinja Highway.

Week 4 – Site Simulation & Maintenance

In your final week, you join simulated project crews to grade a mock road section from start to finish. You sequence tasks—rough grade, crown, finishing passes—while coordinating with “survey” and “roller” teams. Each day ends with hands-on maintenance: greasing pins, checking fluid levels and tightening bolts. By the last session, you not only operate the grader confidently, you also keep it in peak condition.

By the end of these four weeks, you’ll handle blade pitch, articulation and steering as second nature. You’ll spot wear before it becomes a breakdown and finish every stretch of road with the clean lines and proper slope that Uganda’s infrastructure projects require. Graduate with a Marashatech Certificate of Competence and step directly into roles shaping the nation’s highways and byways.
